Check back often for updates to this schedule!
Join us for a one-hour tour of the museum (from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.), and, if you like, for dinner afterwards at the Grafton Inn. (6:30 p.m. reservation)
For those attending both the tour and the dinner, a bus will be provided to and from the Historical Society. There is no charge for the bus and the museum. Dinner is $18.00. If you choose the tour alone, you are welcome to car pool from the Society building. The bus and the car pools will leave the Bigelow Tavern at 4:30.
Dinner reservations must be received by September 25th. Call the Historical Society to reserve a place and select your dinner option.
This is an informative and entertaining presentation about Dr. Robert Goddard and his wife Ester.
Robert, a professor at Clark University in the 1920s, was ridiculed for his fanciful ideas about space exploration, but he launched the world's first liquid-fueled rocket in 1926 and was eventually called one of the fathers of modern rocketry. Along the way, he shared a fascinating life with his wife Ester.
Sarah Bitticks, vice-president of the Auburn Historical Society, has meticulously researched the Goddards' lives and careers, and has presented this popular program many times. "They called Goddard 'Crazy Bob' for a reason," says Ms. Bitticks. Join us at the Beaman Library and find out why.
